WALRUS MK-2 - an updated version of the winter jacket by the P1G® brand. It is designed to protect from precipitation and keep warm even on the coldest day. WALRUS is suitable for daily use in the city as well as for long walks in cold weather. This model is a commercial analogue of the seventh layer of the American Extended Cold Weather Clothing System - ECWCS Gen III Level 7.

Materials

 

The new generation of the WALRUS MK-2 jacket has received an updated design and modern materials, making it a reliable barrier against cold weather. The outer part is made of a combination of two materials, both 100% nylon. The lining is also made of durable nylon, extending the product's service life.

For the shoulder area, outer part of the sleeves, and hood, the membrane fabric Ringo is used. It effectively protects against precipitation and removes excess body vapor. The waterproof rating is 10,000 mm, and breathability is 10,000 g/m2 per 24 hours. These are advanced indicators more than sufficient for protection against heavy rain and snow. The second of the outer materials is Havos Mini Ripstop. This fabric has a special reinforced thread in its weave, providing increased durability. The combination of the two outer materials allows the jacket to simultaneously protect against precipitation and maintain proper thermoregulation.

Zone insulation is also used to maintain a stable body temperature and protect against overheating. This is done using non-woven silicon. In the torso and back areas, the insulation has a density of 300 g/m2, the side areas have a density of 200 g/m2, and the hood has 100 g/m2. Non-woven silicon is a lightweight material that does not clump and provides good heat retention while allowing air circulation.

Constructive Advantages

 

The design includes five spacious pockets: two lower outer pockets with zippers, one on the chest with a side entrance zipper, and two inner pockets with top entrances. The central zipper is two-way, meaning it has a slider from both the top and bottom. This allows quick access to gear on the belt. The zipper also features an integrated chin guard for added comfort. Inside the jacket, under the zipper, there is a special flap that protects against wind and precipitation.

Hook-and-loop panels are located on the front and sleeves for attaching identification signs (patches). The shoulder area is constructed without an upper seam, providing additional protection against precipitation and increasing comfort when wearing body armor or backpacks. The cuffs are made elastic for a better fit, and the bottom edge is adjustable with elastic and stoppers. The adjustment of the bottom edge is done inside the pockets.

The functional hood deserves special attention. It can be removed or adjusted for volume in the front and back if needed. The hood sizes allow it to be worn over a helmet or with a regular hat. The bottom of the hood has a high collar that fastens with hook-and-loop closures. Thanks to its flexible adjustment capabilities, the jacket provides good protection against wind and cold, covering half of the face. This helps retain heat under the jacket and protects the face from frostbite and windburn.
